A Brief Description of themes addressed in the work.

My recent body of work includes a series of figurative and man/machine morphologies. The intention is to develop a hybrid of mythologies superimposed upon my own experiences. The sculptures encourage viewers to consider anthropomorphological tendencies from multiple view points.

This combination of the utilitarian machine with organic elements sets up a dynamic allegory of shifting meanings.

There are many opportunities to deplete and reinvest the function and processes of each component or tool, to reify or deify the objects using architectural devices of scale and materiality.

‘Keys to the Greenhouse‘ is a sculptural piece currently being worked on for the biennial exhibition of Shapeshifter in Wellington which opens on Friday 26th February 2010. This is Wellington’s pre-eminent outdoor sculpture exhibition, a key visual arts feature of the New Zealand International Arts Festival.

Featuring more than 80 works by leading and emerging New Zealand artists, shapeshifter is an exciting fusion of contemporary outdoor and indoor sculpture, set amongst the striking venues of the beautiful Civic Gardens and TheNewDowse.

Picnickers are welcome with music events, guided tours and evening openings planned. All works are for sale, with proceeds going to local charities.
